"A bad day at the office" can best describe what was a fairly lacklustre performance from St Julians U12s as they succumbed to a 40-14 defeat against a determined NHSOB outfit.

Recent games between the two sides have been close affairs, with usually one or two tries separating the teams, and the coaches felt that, with the excellent progress the players have been making this year, that this would be a game in which the players could show how far they have come.

Alas, it was not to be and the Young Saints were not at their best, missing many first up tackles to let the opposition in for 6 tries, many of which came from in their own half. The team also struggled to secure their own ball and go through the phases, either turning the ball over at the breakdown or throwing offloads which were intercepted by the opposition.

There were positives despite the result. As always, the team did not give up and battled on to score two tries of their own; one a fantastic individual effort from Riley Hayward and the second a well worked try from Mitchell Watkins. In addition, the two debutants, Rhys Tipper and Madoc Howells, had fine games with the latter in particular putting in some fantastic tackles and generally making a nuisance of himself around the base of the scrum on opposition ball. 

The coaches and players look forward to the next game in two weeks.
